Meet Ally Mortlock

Hello and welcome!

My name is Ally Mortlock. I’m privileged to call Busselton in the South West my home.

I have always been fascinated by the innate intelligence of the body and its healing capacities, which led me to study yoga, health science, nutrition, herbalism, and many holistic modalities. I was first properly introduced to Ayurveda a decade ago when I had my first Ayurvedic consultation in Bali. I was obsessed and fascinated immediately, and I knew I eventually wanted to study it further.

My journey really started when I was suffering from health issues during my early 20s and I was unable to find the right support from doctors or holistic practitioners. I was led down many rabbit holes, including many different restrictive diets and “health protocols” which ultimately did more damage than good. I felt failed by the medical system and exhausted. I literally spent thousands of dollars on different supplements, diets, practitioners, modalities, colonics, you name it. I was broke, sad and very unwell. Obviously, owe time this took major toll on my mental and emotional health.

I was frustrated because at the time I considered myself to be really healthy. I was actually however incredibly stressed, had adrenal fatigue and was completely burnt out from living in Melbourne on the bones of my ass, teaching yoga, studying full time and doing hospitality work and trying to support myself. Meanwhile, my relationships were suffering, I thought there was something wrong with me, and that I would never find respite.

It wasn’t until I left Melbourne and started easing up on the restrictive “candida diets” I was put on (where I was basically only allowed green vegetables and buckwheat and eggs), and started to listen to my body and eat the things I wanted again. Eventually I rediscovered Ayurveda again and through deep self-study, whilst following Ayurvedic diet and lifestyle, and eating more intuitively I started to heal rapidly and truly began to understood the power of Ayurveda.

It was this experience that really ignited my fire and purpose to help others on their healing journeys through the wisdom of Ayurveda and to be the support I wish I had during my own journey. My desire is to help people understand themselves in a more embodied way and to help them heal in totality.

I truly know what it feels like to suffer with chronic illness from my experiences and it is this understanding that I am able to help others so compassionately.

This is a list (in no particular order) of all of my INCREDIBLE Ayurvedic teachers and mentors who have helped shape me into the person and practitioner I am today.
